MAILERS' TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MTAC)
MAIL PREPARATION QUALITY WORKGROUP # 69
MARCH 2002 REPORT
USPS/Industry Mail Preparation Quality Work Group held its first meeting on February
20th to discuss MERLIN issues. A list of 20 recommendations was compiled as a result of that
meeting. The USPS and the industry has agreed to the actions that will be taken as a
result. This workgroup has completed its purpose and has been "sunsetted". Workgroup
# 70 has been formed to develop several specific solutions to issues.
This workgroup met on five occasions and developed solutions to issues in line with its
purpose to enhance mailers' understanding of MERLIN and better prepare them for its rollout
to their locations (see MTAC issue # 70 on this site). The USPS, Bell & Howell (MERLIN manufacturer),
mailers and inkjet vendors all worked together on the workgroup's projects. The results
were published in the September issue of Mailers Companion and on the USPS website.
