MAILERS’ TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MTAC)

                                                            MEETING MINUTES

                                                          NOVEMBER 7 – 8, 2007

 

The meeting was held at US Postal Service Headquarters, 475 L’Enfant Plaza SW, Washington DC.  All presentations can be downloaded from the MTAC website.

 

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7

 

The meeting was called to order at 12 noon by Susan Plonkey, Postal Chair.  Special recognition was given to Heywood Girion, former MTAC Chair who is retiring from the mailing industry after many years of accomplishment and success.  Susan Plonkey mentioned that effective today, MTAC workgroups which successfully complete their mission, will receive Certificates of Appreciation for their hard work. Because MTAC and the Postal Service realize the importance of the Intelligent Mail Bar Code Susan announced the formation of a temporary Intelligent Mail Bar Code Focus Area.  The Industry Leaders will be Joyce McGarvy and Anita Pursley, USPS will be Anita Bizzotto and Tom Day.

 

Joyce McGarvy, Industry Chair, announced the following 2008 MTAC calendar which is final except for the January date which should be confirmed by mid November::

 

 

                        January 30 – 31 (yet to be confirmed)

 

                        April 30 – May 1

 

                        August 6 - 7

 

                        November 19 – 20

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 am by Don Harle, Industry Vice Chair.  Susan Plonkey, Postal Chair, introduced John E. Potter, Postmaster General (PMG).  The PMG thanked the Industry Leaders of MTAC Workgroup # 114 Service Standards and Measurement for Market-Dominant Products for their fine work on this important initiative.  The PMG then presented a plaque to Joyce McGarvy, stressing the Postal Service’s appreciation for her many outstanding contributions to the Postal Service and the Industry, and recognizing that this meeting was her last as Industry Chair.     

 

Susan Plonkey also recognized Bob O’Brien, MTAC Industry Immediate Past Chair, thanking him for his many years of MTAC participation, especially the last seven years serving with the MTAC Leadership which has provided significant benefit to all.
