LACS^Link™ Product

LACS^Link provides mailers an automated method of obtaining new addresses after a 911 system has been implemented. 911 address conversions normally involve changing rural-style addresses to city-style addresses, but in some instances conversions may result in the renaming or renumbering of existing city style addresses. Address Management Systems offices across the country are currently collecting and transferring information for this database to the National Customer Support Center.

LACS^Link licenses are available through the USPS and USPS-certified software distributors. LACS^Link licenses may provide LACS^Link updates as a service to third parties and/or process internal mailing lists.

Input address information provided by a mailer to the LACS^Link system is first standardized according to Publication 28, Postal Addressing Standards to conform to Postal Service™ requirements. Once the address is standardized, an attempt is made to match the address against the LACS^Link file. If an exact match is made with the old address information on the LACS^Link file, the LACS^Link system is permitted to provide the 911 conversion address to the mailer.

LACS^Link benefits include the following:

• reduces undeliverable mail by providing the most current address information for matches made to the LACS^Link file
• prevents the need for duplicate mailpieces or re-mailings after address corrections are received since the address correction is applied prior to the mailing
• lowers mailer costs by reducing the number of undeliverable and/or duplicate mailpieces by using the most current address information
• provides the opportunity for faster product/service marketing through accurate mail delivery

LACS^Link licensees provide the following to mailers:

• the original input address from the mailer
• a standardized new address when the standardized input address matches the old address on the LACS^Link file
• standard return codes

When no address matches are found, system returns:

• the original input address
• standard return codes

• List of ZIP Codes with converted addresses in the LACS^Link database.
