LACSLink provides mailers an automated method
of obtaining new addresses after a 911 system has been implemented. 911 address
conversions normally involve changing rural-style addresses to city-style
addresses, but in some instances conversions may result in the renaming or
renumbering of existing city style addresses. Address Management Systems offices
across the country are currently collecting and transferring information for
this database to the
LACSLink licenses are available through the USPS and USPS-certified software distributors. LACSLink licenses may provide LACSLink updates as a service to third parties and/or process internal mailing lists.
Input address information provided by a mailer to the LACSLink system is first standardized according to Publication 28, Postal Addressing Standards to conform to Postal Service requirements. Once the address is standardized, an attempt is made to match the address against the LACSLink file. If an exact match is made with the old address information on the LACSLink file, the LACSLink system is permitted to provide the 911 conversion address to the mailer.
